Emma T. Hunter helps clients navigate complex international trade issues. She uses her deep government experience in antidumping and countervailing duty law and policy, trade litigation, and dispute resolution before international tribunals to resolve problems and identify opportunities for clients in many industries.

Emma joined the firm after serving for nearly a decade in the Office of Chief Counsel for Trade Enforcement and Compliance at the U.S. Department of Commerce, most recently as Assistant Chief Counsel, advising Commerce officials from three administrations on all aspects of antidumping and countervailing duty law and co-managing a busy litigation practice before the U.S. Court of International Trade, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the dispute settlement body of the World Trade Organization, and binational panels established under NAFTA and USMCA. Clients come to Emma for assistance on matters involving trade remedies, U.S. trade policy, customs, and related issues. She counsels clients on matters before Commerce, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the U.S. Trade Representative, and the U.S. International Trade Commission in a wide range of industries, including energy, heavy machinery, mining, and agriculture.

Emma’s connection to the trade world is multifaceted. While in law school, Emma interned at the U.S. Court of International Trade and returned to the court after graduation, clerking for the Hon. R. Kenton Musgrave. She also interned at Fidelity Worldwide International, advising portfolio managers on corporate governance issues. Prior to law school, she worked for a high-frequency trading firm in Chicago and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Burkina Faso.
