Mike Mortillo leverages his background as a genetic epidemiologist and statistician to advise pharmaceutical, biotechnology, biologics, and medical device companies on complex FDA matters across the full product lifecycle. He places a particular focus on translating clinical and scientific data into clear regulatory strategies to support FDA submissions and to help companies resolve complex statistical, methodological, and scientific issues.

Prior to joining the firm, Mike earned his Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Biology and his Masters of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology from Emory University. His doctoral thesis focused on epigenetic regulation in the placenta, where he developed and applied large-scale computational and statistical methods to analyze transcriptomic and methylomic data. His work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals.

Mike also served as a consultant for an epidemiologic methods firm supporting rare disease and orphan drug programs. In that role, he led disease prevalence and incidence analyses used to support orphan drug designation applications. This experience allows him to him to bring a practical, FDA-facing perspective to these complex regulatory challenges.
