Greig’s practice focuses on multi-jurisdictional patent disputes involving clients in the technology and life sciences sectors.  

In the technology sector, Greig advises on pre-litigation strategy and licence negotiations, jurisdiction issues, patent infringement claims, and issues relating to FRAND licensing. 

In the life sciences sector, Greig has worked with teams coordinating European & global litigation for both patent portfolio protection and clear the way actions.  

Greig also advises clients on (non-FRAND) patent licence disputes, patent licence transactions, preliminary injunctions, SPCs and trade secrets.  Greig is a member of the firm’s IP & AI working group.  

Greig has been involved in cases before the High Court, the Court of Appeal, UK Supreme Court, the European Patent Office, and the Unified Patent Court. 

Greig trained at Hogan Lovells, during which he took seats in Intellectual Property, Tax, Investment Funds, and Debt Capital Markets.

Representative experience

Representing a major electronics manufacturer in a dispute with Nokia relating to cellular and video coding SEPs.

Representing OPPO against Nokia and Philips in UK technical and FRAND litigation.

Representing a major smartphone manufacturer in pre-action disclosure proceedings to obtain licences, calculate FRAND offers and assist in negotiations over licences for various technologies.

Representing HTC in their UK FRAND litigation against Philips.

Acting for MSD in relation to its Januvia® and Janumet® products.

Acting for a major pharmaceutical company in patent revocation and infringement proceedings relating to vaccines.

Representing a major pharmaceutical company in a patent licence dispute.

Advising a life sciences company on its trade secrets.

Advising a pharmaceutical company on its artificial intelligence/machine learning inventions.

Acting for Olaplex in its litigation with L'Oreal.
