Pelayo is an associate in Hogan Lovells' Real Estate team in Madrid, where he focuses his practice on advising institutional investors, funds, and developers on real estate investment, divestment, and development transactions.

He has been involved in notable transactions such as the sale of the Portal Mediterráneo retail park by Mitiska REIM, the acquisition of two student residences in Madrid by Barings Capital, the purchase of two logistics warehouses in Illescas by EQT Exeter, and the negotiation of lease agreements for the battery gigafactory developed by Stellantis and CATL in Zaragoza.

His experience covers different types of assets—retail, hotel, logistics, industrial, and land plots—and a wide variety of contractual structures, including sales, sale and leasebacks, and long-term leases.

In addition, he is actively involved in asset management, including lease agreements, PMAs, construction contracts, new building declarations, and other aspects related to asset management.

Representative experience

Advising Hines on the sale of the Skypark Valdebebas complex (395 homes, 9 commercial premises) through a carve-out of the commercial premises from the target company sold to Meridia Capital.

Advised Mitiska REIM on the sale of the Portal Mediterráneo retail park (Vinaroz, Castellón) to a Hungarian real estate investment and asset management firm.

Advising Leonardo Hotels on the acquisition of two hotels in Donostia–San Sebastián, as part of its expansion plan in the Spanish hotel market, through local special purpose vehicles.

Advising EQT Exeter on the acquisition of two logistics warehouses in Illescas (Toledo) from AQ Acentor, with a total  area of 55,000 m² and a value of over €40 million.

Advising Barings on the acquisition of 2 student residences in Madrid from ColivINN, through a sale and lease-back transaction valued at €40M. The assets will continue to be operated by ColivINN.

Advising Stellantis on the negotiation of the lease agreement between Stellantis and the JV created with CATL for the development of a battery gigafactory in Zaragoza (planned investment up to €4.1B).

Advising M&G on the sale of a real estate asset in the center of Granada, located on Calle Reyes Católicos.

Advising DeA Capital on the lease of its last-mile logistics platform in Madrid (10k m² area & BREEAM Very Good certification. The complex has been leased to Recalvi, Pick & Pack Systems, and Smartee.
